Terms of service
Last updated: 17 October 2026
These terms are the contract between you and the provider of SitePing. They apply when you create an account, start a trial or a free audit, or buy a plan. The data processing agreement is part of these terms.
1. Who we are
SitePing is run by Alexander Kovacic Ditta Individuale, Via Carso 57, 22069 Rovellasca (CO), Italy, VAT number IT08715550961 ("we", "us"). Write to privacy@siteping.it for these terms, privacy and data protection.
2. Businesses and private persons
SitePing is for web agencies, freelancers and companies that manage websites, and for private persons who look after their own site. If you use it for a business, you confirm that you can bind the business you name in the account.
If you are a consumer (a person acting outside any business or profession), the mandatory rules of the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005) and of the country where you live apply on top of these terms and prevail where they protect you more: in particular the right of withdrawal (section 13), the limits of liability (section 21) and the competent court (section 25).
3. Words we use
- "Service": the SitePing dashboard at app.siteping.it, its agents, uptime probes, emails, reports and status pages.
- "Agency" or "you": the business or the person that holds the account. "Team": the people the agency invites.
- "Connected site": a website the agency adds to the service, with or without an agent.
- "Agent": the SitePing plugin, module or connector installed on a connected site.
- "End client": the agency's own customer, who owns or runs a connected site. "Client user": an end client's person with read-only access to the client portal.
4. Your account
Give true details and keep them up to date. Two-factor authentication is required for every user. Keep passwords, recovery codes and connection codes secret, and tell us without delay if you think someone else has used them.
You are responsible for what your team and your client users do in the account. We may act on instructions that come from the account owner's login or email address.
5. Sites you may connect
Connect only sites you own, or sites whose owner has authorised you in writing to monitor them, install the agent, scan their files, take backups and change them through the service. You must be able to show that authorisation if we or the owner ask.
You inform your end clients about the service and its sub-processors, as their contracts with you require. If someone claims that you connected their site without authority, we may pause or remove that site.
6. What the service does on connected sites
Updates, restores, Active Shield protections, cleanup fixes and one-click logins run because you start them or because you chose the settings that run them (update level, windows, schedules). You decide your update policy and which sites to include.
The service takes a backup or a restore point before an update and can roll it back, and Active Shield refuses to change files that are not the expected originals. These safeguards lower the risk. They cannot remove it: a CMS, plugin, theme, hosting setting or custom code can still break a site.
Test changes on sites that matter to you, and keep the agent up to date. We are not responsible for faults caused by third-party software, hosting, CMS releases or changes made outside the service.
7. Backups
Backups are encrypted on the site before they leave it. We do our best to make every backup complete and restorable, but we cannot promise it: a site can change during a backup, and hosting limits can stop it. Use the test restore and keep an independent copy of the sites that matter most.
If you use your own key, only the holder of the private key can open the backups. We cannot recover a lost private key, and backups locked with it cannot be opened without it.
Backup storage under Object Lock cannot be deleted before the lock ends, also by us.
8. Security findings and Active Shield
The checks, scans and vulnerability data help you find problems. No tool finds every vulnerability, malware file or attack, and a clean result is not a guarantee that a site is safe.
Active Shield covers only the vulnerabilities listed for it in the dashboard, on the CMS and extension versions listed there. It does not replace official updates.
9. AI features
Some features ask an AI model for an opinion: the review of SEO Shield findings and the AI review of a flagged file. They are off until the account owner turns them on in Settings. When they run, they send the page HTML or the file content to the AI provider listed among our sub-processors. AI answers can be wrong: read them as an opinion and decide yourself.
10. Site cleanup service
When you ask for a cleanup, a person works on a copy of the site, prepares a list of fixes and applies it through the agent only after you approve it. The price is shown before you send the request. We fix what we find in that copy: we cannot promise that a site has no other infection, or that it will not be infected again through a weakness outside the service.
11. Acceptable use
You must not:
- monitor, scan or load-test systems you are not authorised to test, or use checks to overload a site;
- use the service to store or spread malware, illegal content or content that infringes others' rights, including on status pages and reports;
- try to access other agencies' data, get around plan limits, or create several accounts to repeat a trial or a free audit;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, except for the reports and status pages you give your end clients and what the law allows.
12. Suspension
We may suspend all or part of the service, after notice when the situation allows it, if a payment is overdue, if an account or site puts the service or other customers at risk, if we see a breach of section 11, or if a court or authority requires it. We restore the service when the reason ends.
13. Plans, fees and payment
Prices are on the pricing page. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically for the same period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time: the plan stays active until the end of the period you paid, and periods already started are not refunded.
Payments are handled by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record: Stripe charges the payment, applies the taxes due in your country and issues the invoice or receipt. Stripe's terms for buyers apply to the payment.
Adding sites over your licence buys the next block of sites, charged pro rata for the rest of the period. We tell you about price changes by email at least 30 days before they apply. They apply from your next renewal, and you can cancel before it. The launch discount stays as long as the subscription stays active without interruption.
If you are a consumer, you can withdraw from a paid plan within 14 days of buying it, without giving a reason, by writing to us at the address in section 1. If you asked for the plan to start within those 14 days, we refund the price minus the part for the days already used.
14. Trial, free audit and Free plan
The free trial lasts 30 days, needs no card and covers up to 10 sites with the Complete features except backups, with a monthly cap on AI credits. Each account can use it once. At the end the account moves to the Free plan unless you choose a paid plan, and nothing is charged.
The free audit covers one site, read-only, and its report stays available for 30 days. On the Free plan agents stop working, while the sites and their history stay in the account.
We may change or end the trial, the free audit and the Free plan for new accounts at any time, and for existing accounts with 30 days' notice.
15. Availability and support
We work to keep the service available and to send alerts on time, but we do not promise a minimum uptime, and an alert can arrive late or not at all (email, Telegram, push and webhooks depend on other services too). We announce planned maintenance when it can affect monitoring.
Support is by email, in English or Italian, on Italian working days.
16. Your data
Your data and your sites' data stay yours. You give us the right to use them only to run the service, to keep it secure and to meet our legal duties. We process personal data for you under the data processing agreement. We may use counts and statistics that identify no agency, site or person to improve the service.
17. End of the contract and your data
Before your plan ends, download the backups and reports you want to keep. If a paid plan ends without a new one, the account moves to the Free plan. We may delete stored backups 30 days after that, and we email you before.
When you close the account, or we end the contract, we delete the account data within 60 days. Backups under Object Lock are deleted when their lock ends. We keep only what the law requires, such as accounting records.
Free accounts with no login for 12 months may be deleted after a notice by email 30 days before.
18. Intellectual property
The service, the dashboard and the brand belong to us. The agents for WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and PrestaShop are licensed under the GNU GPL, version 2 or later. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely.
19. Confidentiality
Each party keeps the other's non-public information confidential and uses it only for this contract. This does not cover information that is public, that the other party already had, or that a law or authority requires to disclose.
20. Warranties
We provide the service with professional care, as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we give no other warranty, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
21. Liability
Our total liability for all claims under this contract in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us, net of taxes, in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim, or EUR 100 if you paid nothing.
We are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, lost revenue, harm to reputation, lost business with end clients, or for data you can rebuild from the last available backup.
These limits do not apply to wilful misconduct or gross negligence (article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code), or where the law does not allow a limit. For consumers they apply only as far as the Consumer Code allows.
22. Your responsibility to us
You hold us harmless from claims by end clients, site owners or other third parties that come from sites you connected without authority, from your instructions, or from your breach of these terms, including reasonable legal costs.
23. Duration and termination
The contract starts when you accept these terms and lasts until the account is closed. You can close the account at any time. Either party may end the contract if the other seriously breaches it and does not fix the breach within 15 days of a written notice. We may also end it for any reason with 60 days' notice, refunding the part of a prepaid period that remains.
24. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to follow the law or changes in the service. We email the account owner at least 30 days before a substantial change applies. If you do not agree, you can close the account before that date and get back the part of a prepaid period that remains. Using the service after that date means you accept the new terms.
25. Law, courts and language
Italian law governs these terms. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. For business customers the Court of Como (Italy) has exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, the court of the place where you live has jurisdiction, and you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your country.
These terms exist in Italian and English. If the two differ, the Italian text prevails.
26. Specific approval
Under articles 1341 and 1342 of the Italian Civil Code, by ticking the box for it at sign-up you specifically approve these sections: 6 (actions on sites), 7 (backups), 12 (suspension), 13 (fees and automatic renewal), 14 (changes to free plans), 15 (availability), 17 (end of the contract and your data), 21 (liability), 22 (your responsibility to us), 23 (termination), 24 (changes to these terms) and 25 (law and courts). For consumers these sections are valid only within the limits of the Consumer Code.
