Security patches for PrestaShop 1.7.8.11

PrestaShop 1.7 stopped at 1.7.8.11 in December 2023. Many stores still run it, with modules and themes that can't make the move to 8. The security fixes released since then can be backported.

Migrating a store costs money, and meanwhile it's selling.

Moving from 1.7 to 8 or 9 means checking modules, theme and overrides. For many clients it is a project to quote, with weeks of work.

Meanwhile, PrestaShop 8 security advisories come out that declare 1.7 code vulnerable too.

How we apply them.

  1. From the PrestaShop 8.2 fixes

We backport to the official 1.7.8.11 files the fixes that also concern 1.7, one by one.

  2. Verification

Each fix is tested before it goes into the package. We left one out: on 1.7.8.11 it made the store worse.

  3. On the store

Same mechanism as Joomla: every file checked before writing, the admin folder read from the inventory, files restored when turned off.

Frequently asked questions

The store runs 1.7.6 or 1.7.7.

First update it to 1.7.8.11, which has the same PHP requirements. Active Shield works only on 1.7.8.11.

Does it cover every PrestaShop 8 advisory?

No. Some August 2026 advisories still need checking file by file, and one template vulnerability in 8.2.5 concerns pages 1.7.8 doesn't have. We add them after verification.
